And what's the best way to get to the McCain Sports Ground, Osgodby Lane, Cayton, Scarborough? Here's how:
BY CAR
If you're lucky enough to have SatNav in your vehicle, just type in YO11 3SB and that should get you there! Well, fairly close at least! Be aware that premises on both sides of this road have the same postcode.
No SatNav? Then follow the instructions below....
FROM THE DIRECTION OF YORK (A64) or FROM DRIFFIELD (B1249) WHICH JOINS THE A64 AT STAXTON Head towards Scarborough on the A64 and after you've passed the turn-off for Seamer B1261 (stay on A64 at this roundabout) you'll go over a railway bridge and approach a roundabout where Morrisons is situated. Turn RIGHT at this roundabout (signposted Eastfield and Cayton) and at the next traffic lights turn LEFT (Dunslow Road). The road rises towards traffic lights where you turn RIGHT onto Cayton Low Road (signposted Cayton, Filey). Stay on this road for one mile (past a number of factories on your right and the McCain factory on your left) until you enter the village of Cayton. Keep going ahead for half a mile until you pass The Star pub on your right, and take the NEXT LEFT (just before the Blacksmith's Arms) into Church Lane. Proceed past the churchyard and leave the village, looking out on your left for the entrance to the McCain Sports Ground.
FROM THE NORTH (WHITBY) As you enter Scarborough, look for signs showing you the route to York (A64) and leave Scarborough along Seamer Road - past the old McCain Stadium on your right. (If you've ended up in the town centre, you can also reach us via the A165 to Filey and Bridlington - see instructions "From Scarborough Town Centre".) You exit Scarborough past Dean's Garden Centre and come to a big roundabout where you take the FIRST exit signposted Eastfield. Follow this road (take care of two sharp bends) and at the next roundabout turn RIGHT, up the hill. This road ends in a strange roundabout (give way to traffic from both directions!) where you turn LEFT onto Cayton Low Road towards Cayton.
FROM THE WEST (PICKERING) via A170 Proceed through Snainton, Brompton etc until you enter West Ayton. Stay on the A170 over the bridge, past the filling station on your right and the "Denison Arms" on your left, and at the roundabout GO STRAIGHT AHEAD towards Irton and Seamer. In Seamer, turn LEFT at the roundabout. In Crossgates, go straight ahead at the roundabout and through the traffic lights. You will pass a number of factories on your right, and the McCain factory on your left after which you will reach the village of Cayton. Keep going ahead for half a mile until you pass The Star pub on your right, and take the NEXT LEFT (just before the Blacksmith's Arms) into Church Lane. Proceed past the churchyard and leave the village, looking out on your left for the entrance to the McCain Sports Ground.
FROM SCARBOROUGH TOWN CENTRE Follow the A165 (signposted Bridlington) across Valley Bridge and up through South Cliff, going past Scarborough College and University of Hull. At the roundabout, go straight ahead following the direction of Bridlington. At the next roundabout near the "Park & Ride" car park (the roundabout with the totally unnecessary traffic lights!), turn RIGHT signposted Eastfield. At the traffic lights, go LEFT, and at the T-junction turn RIGHT (signposted Cayton). As you drop down towards the bottom of this hill, you will see the McCain Sports Ground on your right.
FROM FILEY AND BRIDLINGTON (coastal road A165) Head towards Scarborough until you come to a roundabout at Lebberston where there is a filling station and a pub called The Plough - turn LEFT here, signposted Cayton B1261. Proceed into the village of Cayton. Proceed until you have gone through the light-controlled pedestrian crossing and at the top of the rise (immediately after the Blacksmith's Arms) turn off to the RIGHT into Church Lane. Continue past the churchyard and out of the village, and you will soon see the McCain Sports Ground on your left.

BY BUS
Get a Number 7 bus from the town centre to Eastfield. The number 7 leaves every 15 minutes from the top of town (Westborough) at 04, 19, 34 and 49 minutes past each hour. (N.B. NOT the number 17 bus which also goes to Eastfield but via a different route which takes longer). Assuming you catch a Number 7, it leaves Scarborough on Filey Road, goes past Scarborough College and the University, and turns left at a roundabout to go along the "old" Filey Road before turning right into Osgodby. It goes along Osgodby Lane and then takes a right turn signposted, rather bizarrely, "Scarborough and Eastfield" - GET OFF straight after this turn and walk back to the junction before turning right onto Osgodby Lane (signposted Cayton) and going down the hill towards the ground which will be on your right.
BY TAXI
OK if you're sharing, but a bit pricey if you're on your own. Could be as much as a tenner to get there, from the town centre.
We recommend Nippy Taxis, on 01723 377377 or 01723 370888.

BY TRAIN (and maybe a while on foot)
If you're arriving in Scarborough by train, you may prefer to go into the town centre first to go on the beach, see the castle, eat fish and chips, have a waffle or an ice cream - and then follow the "By Bus" directions above.
BUT ... there is an alternative whereby you can alight at SEAMER STATION which is the last stop before Scarborough. from where you can walk to the ground but it may take you 35 minutes. The bridge which goes over the railway line at Seamer station carries Cayton Low Road - just follow this road in the correct direction, i.e. if your train is heading towards Scarborough and you get off at Seamer, you need to go RIGHT (towards the pedestrian lights and the traffic lights, NOT towards the roundabout). Just carry on along Cayton Low Road, past the Eastfield pub, past a number of industrial estates on the right, past Braeburn School playing fields on your left and straight ahead you may see smoke billowing from the chimneys of the McCains factory... you may even be able to smell the chips!). Keep going ahead into Cayton village, along the main street, and turn left just after The Star into Church Lane - you're nearly there. OR from Seamer station catch the Number 17 bus through Eastfield and along a street called Overdale - get off the bus as soon as it has gone through the traffic lights, go ahead and turn right into Osgodby Lane, walk down the hill towards the ground.
